The impact of economic conditions on the optimal choice of reactive power compensation systems

The paper presents a specific occurrence of the compensation circuit selection for the Upper Cableway Station Sudety Lift in Szklarska Poreba, Poland. The authors' intention was to highlight the problems associated with a proper choice of the compensation circuit in terms of its correct technical and economic aspects (depreciation, the price of the different technologies depending on their technical advancement). A proper selection of equipment for reactive power compensation is not a simple issue and often requires an individual approach, resulting from the diversity of the electrical load curves of electricity consumers and their expectations on the price of such a system.
