Control of five-phase induction motor with application of second-order sliding-mode Direct Field-Oriented method

The paper presents the Direct Field-Oriented Control of five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor with the application of the second order sliding-mode control algorithm called as “super-twisting” (STSM-DFOC). The mathematical model of the five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor has been presented. The method of Space Vector Modulation used to control a five-phase Voltage Source Inverter has been considered. The description and the design procedure of the STSM-DFOC control structure have been shown. The simulation model of the STSM-DFOC structure has been developed and the simulation studies have been performed. The results of the performed simulation studies have been presented. The obtained results confirmed the good operation and properties of the analyzed control system.
