IN.S.OMNIA, 1983–1993

For a decade before the World Wide Web, a loose collection of creatives associated with the literary performance group Invisible Seattle conducted a series of collaborative literature projects on the bulletin board system (BBS) called IN.S.OMNIA, or Invisible Seattle's Omnia. The Invisibles, as they called themselves, used the visual and procedural estrangement of reading and composing glowing text on a cathode ray tube (CRT) to explore alternatives to the literary conventions of their day.
