A dual-band stacked-patch satellite antenna with parasitic elements for axial ratio beamwidth enhancement

A novel stacked-patch circularly polarized (CP) antenna with enhanced axial ratio (AR) performance is investigated and designed for s-band satellite communication applications. Through structure modification and parameter study, the optimized antenna dimensions are obtained. The antenna exhibits an AR beamwidth enhancement of about 38.6% at dual-band with the parasitic elements addition compared to the original design. The performances of the proposed antenna are verified in detail in terms of the reflection coefficients, axial ratio, and the radiation pattern in simulation in the end.
