Comparative analysis of islanding detection methods for multiple DG based system

Various Islanding Detection Methods (IDMs) for distributed generations are reviewed in this paper. Special consequence is put on some of the islanding detection systems based on “active methods” and “Passive Methods” for distributed generations based system. Islanding can be dangerous to utility workers, who may not realize that a circuit is still powered. Moreover, extended islanding can also prevent reconnection to power grid and may cause damage. Consequently, islanding detection, nothing but “anti-islanding”, is one of the most critical aspects of the integration of DG sources into power grid. Finally, the comparative analysis of various types of Islanding Detection Methods for multiple DG based system is overviewed on various aspects including the requirements set by interconnection standards for anti-Islanding. There are various anti-islanding detection methods and algorithms have been discussed.
