Cloud Portability and Interoperability

Despite the spread of cloud computing and the huge amount of cloud computing solutions a number of issues and challenges related to the cloud still exist. For this reason many research groups have focused on different aspects of cloud computing in order to propose solutions to open cloud issues. The two main issues in cloud computing are portability and interoperability among different cloud platforms. This chapter approaches the problem of cloud interoperability and portability offering an overview of different methodologies, solutions, and initiatives. This chapter presents the most relevant methodologies, research projects, standards proposals, and initiatives to resolve interoperability and portability problems by addressing them from different points of view.
