Abstract:
Controller design for transverse flux machines is a substantial challenge due to their nonlinear dynamic behavior. This paper places particular emphasis on the phase current control loop since it directly affects the generated torque. A state space representation of phase current harmonics in transverse flux machines is introduced to expand applicable control structures. A speed dependent feedforward controller is combined with a harmonic tracking controller to achieve accuracy and fast dynamic response.
