Compatibility of silicon planar heads with conventional thin film heads in drive configuration

Silicon planar heads 1 have been tested in drive configuration. A CONNER drive was designed for conventional thin film heads. The challenge was to replace conventional thin film heads by planar silicon heads in order to proof plug to plug compatibility. This paper describes the results of this experiment.
