Introduction to geospatial and remote sensing data from NASA space systems

▪ Satellite data provides information on environment ▪ Global satellite data provides information on land use, rainfall, soil moisture, vegetation vigor and crop yields ▪ Trends in rainfall and temperature and their impacts on production can be identified with satellite-based information ▪ Integrated analysis allows the transformation of these data into information that can be used to assess impact of weather on agriculture ▪ Better understanding of weather impacts provides benefits to the broader society, not just the United States, but much needs to be done to provide evaluation of this information
