A parasitic technique for miniature PIFA bandwidth enhancement

Full Paper - This paper deals with the design of an electrically small antenna embedded on a fire fighter's equipment. A miniature printed parasitic Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) has been developed in order to respect allotted volume and operating bandwidth. The antenna consists of a two bended PIFA antennas with a single feed. The parasitic IFA is linked to the fed one by a metallic strip in order to enhance the impedance matching bandwidth. Good matching and radiation properties have been measured and compatibility with fire fighter's equipment has been validated.
