Developing a master process for the Office of Nuclear Safety

The Master Process for operations of the Office of Nuclear Safety of the United States Department of Energy was developed as the unifying model for the complex processes and process interfaces necessary for efficient and effective performance of the Office's mission. It portrays Office functions from a systems perspective by focusing on the Office's customers, products, and work flow, instead of hierarchically by functions and divisions. This systems-based approach provides a more accurate picture of those processes which must occur at all levels of performance organization, process, and performer. The Office's Master Process includes five principal parts: strategic planning; project team operation; conduct of assessments; annual report; and self-assessment.
