Numerical analysis of contamination transfer with seepage water from the fly ash storing site

The fly ash storing site is an important environ-protection engineering, however, the operation of the already-built fly ash storing sites indicates that the pollution caused by fly ashes to the atmosphere and water resources is an urgent problem to be further solved in the construction operation of fly-ash storing site. As viewed from the environ protection angle and with an aim at the problem of ash water solvent transfer polluting ground water, the comparative calculation analysis of pollutant transfer with or without impervious layer is made using the mixture impervious materials as the impervious layer and via the infinite element program simulating the real operation conditions of fly-ash storing sites. Through comparing the calculation in the two kinds of cases with and without the previous layers, the results indicate that the impervious layer can effectively reduce the quantities of ash water infiltration or seepage and shorten the long-term dispersion range of pollutants, and that the impervious layers set up at the bottom and inner sides of fly ash storing site are the effective measure to prevent the pollution. The establishment of impervious layers can reduce the quantity of fly-ash seepage water and effectively delay the pollutant dispersion.
