Frequency Selectivity in a Hormone Signaling System

Simulation results prove that the hormone signaling system has an "intrinsic" frequency. External signal with this frequency can be selective sustained, which can be manifest by exploring noise. Both the internal and/or external noise can induce and optimize this signal near the bifurcation point, and the optimization is quite independent of the influence of external signal with other frequencies. These findings are of significance for weak signal detection and transduction in complex living systems.
