Dynamic modeling and robust controller design for air motor

This paper applies robust control strategies to an air motor system. Due to the nonlinear characteristics of this system, a robust controller is designed to provide the robust performance. The study is carried out in three parts. Firstly, system identification using experimental data is applied to determine the parameters of the air motor system model. The nonlinear system model of the air motor system is modeled as a linear system model with the multiplicative uncertainty. Secondly, H∞ control techniques are used to design a H∞ controller to deal with the system uncertainty and robust performance requirement. Finally, the designed robust controller is implemented to control the rotational speed of the air motor. The results of the simulation and the experiment demonstrate that the proposed controller has high feasibility and good robustness.
