A novel ultrasonic resonance spectrometer for microbubble sizing

A method and system for in vitro estimation of the diameter distribution in an ensemble for microbubbles is described. The system is based on the two-frequency insonification method and allows rapid (<1 s) distribution estimates in the range of >or=1 mu m and bubble lifetime measurements. Attenuation backscatter and velocity measurements can be performed in the same sample volume. The system is designed as a tool for the development of ultrasonic contrast agents.<
