Thrust characteristic of spiral motor using fem analysis and compensation for thrust fluctuation

We propose a six-phase spiral type motor that had higher thrust characteristics than linear motor's. This motor generates torque around it's axis and thrust in the axial direction only by electromagnetic force. Because no additional hardware is required for straight-line movement, this type of motors has less friction. Simulation results based on finite-element method (FEM) analysis certifies that this type of motors has higher thrust constant per unit volume than other linear motors. We also study a method to compensate the thrust fluctuation of the five-pitch stator and six-pitch mover model
