New applications in mobile communication-the directory

The authors briefly review the directory service, which may be regarded as a communication-oriented information system. How to integrate the different functional elements of the directory into the mobile communication environment is discussed. A more detailed classification of the car driver user community is given, and the specific requirements of the respective classes are described. These requirements are matched against the directory's functionality, and major technical problems are pointed out. Some necessary enhancements and modifications are proposed.<
