Abstract
We present a novel approach for the analysis of scattering of electromagnetic waves on rough surfaces for the case of large roughness. This approach relies on an asymptotic expansion in the inverse of the heigth function, to be considered as a random function. This expansion is dual to the small roughness expansion giving the possibility to study a different scattering regime. We exploit this approach computing the Green function using the Dyson equation. This gives a generalization of the Kirchhoff method. We give some comments about clutter for radar systems as a possible application.
