Abstract
This tutorial is intended for those who are new to the field of power electronics. It discusses the disciplines that support power electronics, and provides some motivational examples that serve to illustrate how the form of power converters is developed to perform a function. Some elements of how power converters are controlled is also covered. The tutorial ends with a discussion of relevant reference materials.
