Note: This feature is available to IEEE members and subscribers.

To perform a basic search:

1.    Click in the first text box and enter a search string. The string can be a keyword, subject term, last name, date, or phrase.

Note: IEEE Xplore® interprets the phrase optical fiber as optical fiber plus any stem variations.

Note: The results include plural and suffixed forms of any keywords entered. For example, entering fiber returns words like fibers and fiberglass. You can also enter partial keywords if necessary.

2.    Limit your search by selecting a field code from the pull-down menu next to the text box. This tells IEEE Xplore® to look for the search string in a particular field of the citation record.

3.    If you want to search for several words or phrases, use the same process to enter search text and select field codes for the other search query boxes as necessary. Define the relationship between the query boxes by selecting search operators from the pull-down menus between the text boxes.

5.    Click the Search button.
