Low carbon unit commitment for power system with wind farms and carbon capture devices based on DE-BBO algorithm

With constant improvement of the individual environmental awareness, people have woken up to the truth that the key solution to climate change lies in the reduction of CO
₂
in the air. Both access of large-scale wind power and proposition of carbon capture technology, along with low-carbon dispatching for power system have increased uncertainty of power grid operation and exerted an influence on generating costs of the system. Under such circumstances, it is an urgent task to figure out the reasonable generation scheduling and realize the energy conservation and emission reduction, in line with our aspiration level. In the present paper, based on the adoption of a combined dispatching for electricity generation and carbon emission, we proposed a optimized dispatch model which took the carbon capture device and wind power plant into consideration, under the current requirement of energy conservation and emission reduction. The binary DE-BBO algorithm and the minimum marginal cost method have been proposed to solve the proposed dispatch model. Numerical results of the IEEE-RTS 24-bus system show that the proposed model can achieve to enable low-carbon dispatching and meanwhile realize the optimal acceptance of wind power, with remarkable energy saving efficiency.
