Energy System Integration Group Workshop on Grid-Forming Inverter-Based Resources [Newsfeed]

In june 2022, the energy System Integration Group (ESIG) held a Special Topic Workshop on Grid-Forming Inverter-Based Resources (GFM IBRs). The focus was on breaking the chicken-and-egg issue impeding the broader deployment of GFM technology. Without having a clear understanding of the state-of-the-art capabilities of the equipment, grid operators cannot require these capabilities from IBRs. Without clear technical specifications of the capabilities sought by the grid operators, manufacturers do not know what capabilities to include in the equipment design.
