Optimal power flows incorporating network stability

In this paper, three optimal power flow (OPF) formulations based on a power pool market structure are presented. The optimal solution at the current loading point is determined while considering the spinning reserve available for future loading conditions. A Lagrangian based analysis is done to determine "nodal" prices and also determine "weak" buses in the system. The effects of applying these formulation is analyzed using a 30-bus system, which is based on the IEEE 30-bus test system and modeled using standard power flow models.
