Frequency diversity propagation measurements for an indoor 60 GHz mobile radio link

The wide signal bandwidth available at millimetre wave frequencies means that frequency diversity could be used to mitigate the effects of multipath propagation. The effectiveness of this form of diversity in decorrelating the branch signals depends upon the relative time delays of the various components of the received signal. The object of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of a selection frequency diversity scheme with branch signals separated by 5, 10 and 15 MHz in a variety of indoor environments. Results are given for experiments undertaken at 60 GHz primarily, but a comparison with similar measurements at 40 GHz is also made.<
