On the relationship between the Mueller and the scattering matrices

Radar polarimetry has gained more and more popularity in microwave remote sensing of the environment due to the progresses made on the technological and physical sides. In this paper a study on the relationship between the Mueller matrix and the scattering matrix is presented. The study is based on the group theory approach.
