The effects of myocardial anisotropy on body surface potentials using an eccentric spheres model

An exact solution for surface potentials using the eccentric spheres model is developed to include the effect of myocardial anisotropy. Including the anisotropy reduces the magnitude of the body surface potential distributions by as much as 20%. The overall shape of the body surface potential distribution does not change when the myocardial anisotropy is included. The results also indicate that introducing even small values of anisotropy in the myocardium, i.e. values much less than those used for skeletal muscle anisotropy, has a material effect on body surface potentials.<
