Rationales for holonic manufacturing systems in chemical process industries

Examines the rationale for applying so-called holonic manufacturing principles as a technological solution to a number of growing business concerns of chemical process industries. A requirements deployment process coupled with a vision for a "holonic process plant" is used to illustrate how a holonic approach might reform the conventional engineering and control design methods in chemical processes.
