Automatic extraction of stomach contour from barium filled X-ray image

A method of stomach extraction is proposed. The stomach contour is automatically and accurately extracted by the characteristics of the X-ray stomach image. First, the approximate region of stomach is obtained by the combination image which is constructed from binary of the original image and its differential image. Secondly, the stomach contour is extracted by the brightness of the differential image and the shape which is the approximate region of stomach. Thus, the stomach contour is accurately extracted. Lastly, this method was applied for many samples of X-ray images, and was proved to be effective.
