Joint spatiotemporal parameter estimation for DS-CDMA system in fast fading multipath channel

In a wireless communication environment, it is often required to estimate the arriving angle and relative time delay of a desired user signal from multiple reflected rays. We apply a joint spatiotemporal parameter estimation method to a DS-CDMA system over a fast fading multipath channel. The spatiotemporal array manifold model is used to extract both the path delay and direction of arrival (DOA) parameters from the received signals. Simulation results illustrate that the performance of this method can be improved when the path separation is increasing either in time domain or in space domain. However, the joint estimation in a multipath environment can reach the performance in a single path scenario only if the delay separation of different paths is large, rather than the angle spacing is large.
