Sensorless Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control with Rotating Restart Strategy for PMSM Drive System

This paper presents a sensorless finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy with rotating restart method for high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system. In order to reduce the influence of the sensorless control method on the FCS-MPC strategy, by designing the observer architecture and adjustable parameters, a parallel observer is proposed for the separated observation of back-EMF, rotor angle, and rotor speed, and the corresponding compensation method is also given, which improves the observation accuracy and transient performance of the sensorless FCS-MPC strategy. In addition, the improved three-time short-circuit method is added into the proposed strategy, which proves the feasibility of realizing the rotating restart method in the FCS-MPC strategy. Finally, the simulation results prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.
