High power 1.5- mu m DFB laser diode for long haul optical transmission system

Lasing characteristics, reliability and transmission performance of a high power 1.5- mu m InGaAsP DFB laser are reported. The validity of the highpower DFB laser for practical applications has been verified by the aging tests at 70 degrees C, 15 mW output power and the transmission experiment at 680 Mb/s using 160-km 1.3- mu m zero dispersion fiber.<
