All-optical demultiplexing and format conversion using an ultrafast bistable laser diode

All-optical demultiplexing with a signal-bit width conversion function has been experimentally demonstrated using an ultrafast polarization bistable VCSEL. All-optical format conversions (both from RZ to NRZ and vice versa) have also been experimentally demonstrated.
