New UTRA-TDD system characteristics

This paper presents some of the very new system characteristics of the UTRA-TDD mode, all of which will enable TDD to become a cost-effective, robust and reliable system to deliver advanced 3G services. The presented new features include the code signalling which relates to the reduction of the joint detection implementation at the user equipment (UE), the constant use of codes with spreading factor 16 for the spreading of the transport format combination indicator (TFCI) field, and also the bit scrambling, the burst type 3 and the special burst.
