Development of a complete radar system model

This paper describes an approach to modelling synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground moving target identification (GMTI) modes that is applicable to both monostatic and bistatic operation. We describe an extensible method for modelling large complex radar systems that can be used to model platform and target motion, analogue and digital electronic components and complex signal processing algorithms. The key to this approach is a common data file format that allows the user to exchange simulated datasets for real flight trials data or combine the two without any recompilation of the modelling.
