A new image interpolation method for increasing the frame rate in multimedia and virtual reality applications

Image generation algorithms for certain multimedia and virtual reality applications used today do not take into account, that successive images in a sequence are very similar. Thus, the computational load of the graphics hardware is proportional to the frame rate. In order to reduce this effect, a new nonlinear image interpolation method is presented which uses subband separation and median filtering.
