A convenient methodology for efficient translation of C to VHDL

Hardware/software codesign is the cooperative design of hardware and software that maintains hardware and software within the same 'stream' of work. One important part of the codesign process is the translation of C code to VHDL. The paper presents a set of transformation algorithms and optimization techniques that help in this process of translation. Also presented in the paper is an example of a multiplication routine written in C that is translated into VHDL using these transformation algorithms.
