Academic initiative to promote critical infrastructure protection R&D

The author describes how the various areas of interactive power system infrastructure networks present numerous theoretical and practical challenges to the academic community in modeling, prediction, simulation, cause and effect relationships, analysis, optimization and control of coupled systems comprised of a heterogeneous mixture of dynamic, interactive, and often nonlinear entities, unscheduled discontinuities, and numerous other significant effects.
