The "boundary phenomenon" in supply chain management

Some boundary phenomena (or, boundary issues) in supply chain management are analysed based on a conceptual framework constructed from a cross-disciplinary study on the nature of boundary. Examples discussed are buffer stock, safety stock, cross-docking operation, customer order de-coupling point (CODP) and transaction data conversion system (TDCS).
