Performance comparison between Q-CDMA and chaotic spreading spectrum CDMA communication system over Saleh indoor channel

To evaluate the performance of some popular pseudo-random spreading spectrum sequences, the Logistic Chaotic Spreading Spectrum (LCSS) sequence and m-sequence used in the Q-CDMA system complying with IS-95 protocol are comparatively studied in this paper. The study is based on the concept of aperiodic partial correlation function and conducted on a specific indoor channel by using the Saleh model. The computer simulation platform consists of Sun Ultra Spare 60 workstation together with the Cadence SPW package. It is found that not only the statistical characteristics of LCSS are better than that of the m-sequence, but also its bit error rate (BER) is lower than that of the m-sequence. Our observation of interest for the application of chaotic spreading spectrum sequence in both the Q(Qualcomm)-CDMA and 3GM systems.
