Instrumented bread baking with mike

During October, I spent a week in Kansas both to work with Steve Dyer at Kansas State University and to attend FIE-2000 in Kansas City. Naturally, there’s always time for some visits. The week started out with a quick stop at the in-laws near Wichita, then off to Manhattan in time to take in Sunday’s BBQ at the Lenhert prairie estate. Among the many familiar faces was Mike Lucas—well known to those in the I&M Society. I spent 11 years at K-State getting degreed; Mike was my instrumentation guru, so I owe him a great deal. Conversation somehow got around to the lamentable state of bread, whereupon, Mike invited Steve and me to come and learn the art of bread baking on Tuesday morning.
