Fast Calculation of Scattering in Planar Uniaxial Anisotropic Multilayers

In this paper, three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method (3D-FDTD) is used to analyze terahertz wave propagation in the planar multilayered media, and the complex scattering field by 3D objects is calculated. The generalized formulations of FDTD in the anisotropic medium are derived with the uniaxial perfectly matched layer. The electric field by the dipole source is calculated both in the time domain and the spectral domain. The accuracy and efficiency of this method are demonstrated through the comparison with the results of finite element method. The numerical experiments prove that this 3D-FDTD method could be regarded as an effective tool in the forthcoming treatment of complex electromagnetic environment.
