Microcomputer-based SCADA at Commonwealth Edison Company

The use of computer-based systems system control and data acquisition (SCADA) at Commonwealth Edison Company during the 1970s and 1980s is sketched, focusing on the recent introduction of microcomputers. The five basic requirements of the CECO microcomputer specification are discussed. These concern the operator interface, high-speed communication, redundant computer systems, and the message protocol for remote terminal units.<
