Composite coatings structure and properties based on titanium diboride obtained by electron-beam fusing

The use of titanium diboride in different areas of engineering and technology is conditioned by availability of such properties, as high hardness, melting temperature, and electrical conductivity. In the given work the coatings titanium diboride-metallic bonding, overcoated by multilayer electron-beam fusing (EBF) on a substrate from steel 3 are investigated. SVS composite (TiB/sub 2/+Fe) and mixture of ligatures of a commercial production intended for creation of exothermal connection TiB/sub 2/ with different contents of bonding was used as a furnace. The grain-size composition of powders varied in the range of 100-250 microns. The estimation of structure of fusing was the definition of a phase structure and morphology of the main structural components with a microhardness testing.
