Cathodoluminescence investigation of the electronic states in nanocrystalline silicon

Luminescent emission induced by high energy electron beam excitation has been investigated in porous silicon layers treated in hydrogenated, inert and oxidant atmosphere. Radiative transitions responsible for a blue emission band with a relatively stable intensity, as well as the variation of the red band intensity as a function of the surface states were analysed.
