Life safety rope strategies for transmission structures

US electric utilities involved in overhead power delivery may be seeing a subtle shift in old perceptions about the use of life safety ropes and equipment on conductors, transmission towers and line equipment. Line crews form Georgia to Vermont and Maryland to California are beginning to see the value of carrying this equipment in their trucks. They are of a growing number brandishing seemingly new techniques employing rope, equipment and expertise to not only rescue themselves and others in the crew, but to access their work and protect them from falls.
