Investigation of lateral stiffness and damping in levitation system with opposite electromagnets

This paper contains research on magnetic levitation system with two electromagnetic actuators in E shape configuration, located anti-parallel. The document presents influence of the coil current in the operating point on the lateral stiffness and damping of the levitating object, under the external static and dynamic load. Numerical model and experimental research, validated with support of image processing, are presented. The lateral displacement is identified.
