ℋ∞ Control of Semi-Active MR Damper Suspensions

In this paper, control of semi-active suspension with Magneto-rheological (MR) damper is studied to improve the ride comfort of vehicles. The controller is divided into two layers: a constrained ℋ

, and suppressing the hop of the wheels, suspension stroke limitation and saturation limitation of MR damper are time-domain constraints. A feedforward and feedback control law is applied to control the MR damper precisely. Compared with passive suspension system, the proposed scheme can achieve better ride comfort as well as constraint satisfaction.
