A decision support system for short-term shop control within holonic manufacturing environment

Conflicts and interruptions caused by resource failures and rush orders require a nonlinear dynamic production management. Present systems of production control do not meet these requirements because of their rigid concepts. Starting with the grasp of the disadvantages of current approaches, the paper develops a control structure that enables systems to react independently to malfunctions. The tolerant control concept is used to compensate for disturbances. On the other hand, in other to handle the complexity of job allocation and the existence of many disparities, a powerful modeling method, fuzzy Petri nets, is introduced. On the basis of this model, the developed system optimizes the actual machine allocations by rule based decision.
