Simulation and analysis of the International Space Station US Laboratory electric power system

The United States Laboratory Module (US Lab) on the International Space Station (ISS) provides equipment for research and technology development. The ISS primary power is converted to secondary power (/spl sim/120 Vdc) by DC-to-DC converters units (DDCUs). The US Lab electric power is received through a set of DDCUs, and is distributed to its loads through solid-state switches. The focus of this paper is the simulation and analysis of the US Lab power distribution system. The US Lab system model with sources, loads, cables, and switchgear is described. Small-signal stability analysis and large-signal transient analysis results are presented. The results of the analyses are compared to test data. Compliance of the analyses results with power quality requirements is verified.
