Performance of turbo codes with a single-error correcting BCH outer code

In this paper, we present a simple method using a single-error correcting BCH outer code in order to improve the performance of turbo codes. It is shown that this method reduces the errors dramatically at moderate-to-high E/sub b//N/sub o/.
